Our
open-door
policy means that we take in all
animals in need, regardless of their
temperament, health, age or breed so
long as we have the room to
accommodate them. The
Woodford Humane Society welcomes over
1,200 animals on a yearly basis and
strives to find good, loving homes for
all of them. All of our animals
are evaluated based on health, known
history and temperament before being
placed for adoption. We get to know
our animals well and provide the
enrichment and the playtime they need
to stay happy.
Adoptable
animals are held for as long as
health, behavior and space permit. We
have no standard set time for
adoptable animals to find a new home,
in fact many animals have remained
here quite a long time while awaiting
their new home.
Owner
surrendered animals are by
appointment. This ensures that we have
available space and reduces stress for
everyone. Please call ahead to make an
appointment.
All
animals received must pass an
evaluation based on their health,
known history and temperament before
being placed for adoption. Adoptable
animals are held as long as health and
behavior permits. There is no
standard set time for adoptable
animals to find a new home.
Your
gift to the Woodford Humane Society’s
General Fund and helps provide food
and care for the animals, until they
find their forever home through our
Adoption Services.
SAVE
MATCHING GIFT & ENDOWMENT FUND
This
Annual Challenge Fund was created by
a generous donor in our community to
support our S.A.V.E Programs
(Spay/neuter, Adopt, Volunteer,
Educate). Your gift of $100 or more
will be doubled by the Fund (up to
$20,000 annually) so it goes twice
as far caring for our homeless pets.
ELIZABETH
SIMMS GAY SPAY/NEUTER FUND
We know
the best way to reduce animal
homelessness is to start at the
source. The ESG Fund, created by
Lucy Bassett in honor of her mother,
Elizabeth Simms Gay, offers low cost
spay/neuter vouchers for community
owned dogs and cats. Since 2003,
this program has altered over 1,000
animals that are no longer
contributing to the pet
overpopulation crisis.
The ESG
Fund also supports our quarterly
Kitty Cat Roundup Trap/Neuter/Return
(TNR) Program in partnership with
Woodford Veterinary Clinic. This
program alters free-roaming cats and
returns them to their caretaker.
Your
gift to the ESG Fund will allow us
to continue to provide this vital
service to our community.
“NEW
LEASH ON LIFE” BUILDING FUND
Animals
moved into our new Adoption Center
in 2006. Our renovated Receiving
Center allows us to maintain health
and provide proper housing and an
enriching environment for all of our
animals. Your gift to this fund will
ensure the ongoing maintenance and
improvements to our facility.
CHAMPS
EMERGENCY MEDICAL FUND
The
CHAMPS Fund, established in 2004,
allows us to provide extraordinary
medical care for sick and injured
animals. We accept all animals, many
who arrive with emergency health
issues. Your gift to this Fund will
allow us to continue to give our
animals special medical care that
has traditionally been beyond our
means.
