Volunteers
have many different reasons for
helping us in their spare time, from
simply wanting contact with animals
and meeting new people, to learning
new skills before
committing to a new career in
animal welfare. Volunteer
help is an invaluable commodity. We
could never accomplish all that we do
for our animals
without our beloved volunteers.
If you
would like to volunteer, there are
many avenues to explore. Whether
you would like to work directly with
the animals, or prefer to help in
other ways, we have a spot for you.
Here are some of the ways you can
help:
- Portable
Adoption Days - setting up and
breaking down cages, staffing the
event, talking with potential
adopters.
- Socializing
the animals - playing with them,
bathing, cleaning ears, clipping
nails, walking dogs
- Help
with cleaning - dishes, scooping
out litter boxes, etc.
- Greet
visitors to the Adoption Center
and help them select a pet
- Help
with our Fundraising Events,
including Freedom Fest 2008 at
Darley's Gainsborough Farm.
- Make
Humane Education presentations
- Take
pet photos for us to post on our
website
- WHATEVER
IT IS YOU LIKE TO DO, WE COULD USE
YOU!
Join our important family of
volunteers. Whether it’s one day
a year, a month, a week or a day,
we need you to continue our hard
work saving lives!
The
Woodford Humane Society
Trap-Neuter-Return program for feral
cats (a.k.a. Kitty Cat Round-Up) is
seeking volunteers. The
quarterly roundups involve trapping
the cats Thursday afternoon or evening
and releasing them Friday
evening. The surgeries are
performed on Friday by Woodford Vet
Clinic and the cats are ready to be
picked up and returned to their homes
Friday evening after they've
recovered. Ideally the same
person/s who trap a particular feral
colony will be the person/s to release
them. Training will be
provided. If you are interested
in volunteering with the T-N-R program
or for more information please contact
us at 873-5491 or DeeDee Lloyd at
873-8327.
