Volunteers have many different reasons for helping us in their spare time, from simply wanting contact with animals and meeting new people, to learning new skills before committing to a new career in animal welfare. We could never accomplish all that we do for our animals without our beloved volunteers.

If you would like to volunteer, there are many avenues to explore. Whether you would like to work directly with the animals, or prefer to help in other ways, we have a spot for you. Here are some of the ways you can help:

  • Portable Adoption Days - setting up and breaking down cages, staffing the event, talking with potential adopters. Monthly commitment required.

  • Socializing the animals - playing with them, bathing, cleaning ears, clipping nails, walking dogs

  • Help with cleaning - dishes, scooping out litter boxes, etc

  • Join a committee - we have several committees that need the help of dedicated volunteers

  • Greet visitors to the Adoption Center and help them select a pet

  • Help with our Fundraising Events, including Freedom Fest, Canine Olympics, Pool Party for Pooches and many more

  • Make Humane Education presentations

  • Take pet photos and post them on our website

WHATEVER IT IS YOU LIKE TO DO, WE COULD USE YOU! Join our important family of volunteers. Whether it’s one day a year, a month, a week or a day, we need you to continue our hard work saving lives! If you are interested in learning more about our volunteer opportunities, please contact Marty Vaughn. We offer an informational Volunteer Orientation once a month for individuals interested in our organization. Please email Marty for dates and space availability.

There is a minimum age requirement of 14 years for all volunteers, and anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
