Our thanks to the talented artists who so generously gave their time and talent to this beautiful collection of artwork portraying various scenes on Darley's breathtaking Gainsborough Farm in Versailles, Kentucky. Sincere appreciation also to the good people at the Headley-Whitney Museum in Lexington for hosting the Sneak Preview Party. The artwork was auctioned during the Freedom Fest Celebration in 2007, raising much needed funds to benefit the animals!

Lincoln Baker: I have loved art and painting all my life. I studied painting at SMU in Dallas TX when I was younger. I love to be outdoors, paint, and listen to nature. I am a member of the Lexington Art League, and Plein Air painters of the Bluegrass. Have been shown at Gallery B, Cosi restaurant and my works collected by John Michael Montgomery. I also paint Low country South Carolina scenes. I am currently talking to several galleries down there.

C.M. (Cheryll) Frank combined her love of the horse with her natural drawing and painting talent from an early age, selling her first oil painting at the age of 12.  She has completed equestrian and corporate portrait and illustration commissions for a variety of private and public collections. Her work has been featured on the covers of the The Chronicle of the Horse, The Florida Horse and in The Blood-Horse magazines. As a graphic designer she has won numerous 'Addy' and two international Echo (direct mail) awards for several Fortune 500 companies. C.M. Frank¹s participation in juried shows includes the Society of the Four Arts in Palm Beach, Florida State University Museum of Fine Art, The Florida State Capitol, Gadsden Arts Center, and numerous public art exhibits with Art Foundation, of which she was a founding member.

Beverly B. Bruckner is an artist working in Versailles, Ky. She received her Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Kentucky, where she has taught drawing and painting.  Her work has appeared in The Artist's Magazine (May 1998) and Artist's Sketchbook (April 2003) and is in collections in central Kentucky, Louisville, Chicago and Budapest.

Betty Beshoar: I am a retired biologist and live in Peak's Mill in rural Franklin County. I began oil painting at the Artist's Attic in Lexington and paint mainly for my own pleasure. In this instance I hope my art can benefit the animals that I love so much.

Kathy Johnson: (born in Louisville, KY) is an artist that is influenced by her childhood in California, as well as her life in central Kentucky.  She has studied under Dan Grant, Hedi Moran, Barbara Oakie (American Academy of Equine Art), Kay Franklin (Oil Painters of America), Mary Neeley, Ann Pass and Dawn Emerson (Assoc. member of Acad. of Equine Art). Kathy has always loved animals with a prime interest in the study of horses. Kathy lives on Lakeland Farm in Scott County, where she raises many types of animals including Thoroughbreds. She works mainly in oils, but also in pastels and watercolors. She is a fiber artist using her wool from her sheep, angora rabbits, llama and alpacas. Kathy has made several art quilts and has received training from nationally known artists including Hollis Chatelain. She has won a best of show in quilting at an invitational art show.  Her newest art quilt will be unveiled at the Kentucky State University in September. Kathy has won awards at invitational art shows, the Kentucky State Fair and local County Fairs. She has exhibited at Gallery B in Lexington, Kentucky and was the featured artist in a one woman show at Central Bank Gallery in Lexington, Kentucky.

Pat Lawrence has been painting for many years. Her primary medium is watercolor and she uses bright colors and very fanciful themes. Most of her work is of animals in various settings or situations that are unusual. Most of her work is considered ‘whimsical’ and her imagination is the main key to the subject matter. This helps keep people from deciding if the painting is a mistake or just another takeoff on what she is thinking that day. She uses an unusual technique that includes an acrylic drawing that is freehand and then dropping color into these areas and letting the color flow.
